TRANSCRIPT of Video:
One of my favorite scriptures is found in the Book of Isaiah. “The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.”
I love those promises, those observations about what He does. I have witnessed those for myself. I have borne, in my own life, griefs and sorrows and disappointments and the rejection of other people and other kinds of things, similar to what we all experience in this world.
Time after time, decade after decade, I have seen his healing hand reach out to me in my brokenness, in my pain, in my disappointment. I have seen Him give me beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.
I have seen him do that same thing for countless other people. I know that He is, even now, who He said He was back then—who Isaiah said He was long before the Savior was born in that stable. He is a person that can heal the broken-hearted.
